Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for your support at last year¡¯s election for San Jos¨¦ City
Council. I am running for re- election this year so I can continue
serving the citizens and residents of San Jos¨¦ as your Councilmember.
My goal is to continue to ensure that our communities have a say in
city projects, adopt standards for a clean sustainable future, and keep
our city safe by working together with communities across the city.
The creation of the North San Jos¨¦ Task Force was a campaign promise
that I kept. The taskforce, which completes its work in March 2008, has
had the responsibility of assessing what their neighborhoods need for
schools, parks, trails, transportation, fire, police, retail amenities,
and residential development in relation to economic development in
North San Jos¨¦. Our community¡¯s active involvement in the redevelopment
of North San Jos¨¦ has provided enormous beneficial changes to what
will make the city an even better place to live.
As
council member I have made it my personal responsibility to be on the
forefront of greener building codes by requiring developers to meet green
building standards and asking the city to ban non-recyclable plastic bags.
With the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver rating requirement
on new development, our district has been able to stay ahead in the green
movement. With the support of council members, I passed the first ever
memo in the city to ban non-recyclable plastic bags. These higher standards
will not only make San Jose a cleaner city but also put us at the forefront
of the developing green economy.
Thank
you for your support for my re-election and I hope to continue serving
the City of San Jos¨¦ for a brighter and greener future. Please feel free
to e-mail me any concerns at Kansen@KansenChu.com. I respectfully
ask for your support on June 3rd, 2008.
Sincerely,
Kansen Chu
Council Member District 4
